Found this strange beauty at the wonderful Desert Botanical Gardens here in Phoenix. I’d never heard of a Boojum Tree before. I love this thing so much.

A photo of a Boojum tree taken from a low angle looking up. The tree has a long narrow trunk with no branches. Instead, small leaf-covered spirgs poke out from the trump perpendicularly all around and up the trunk.

The Boojum tree.

The same tree photographed straight on from a greater distance. Two children stand at the base of the tree, small at the bottom of the image, and the tree extended above the field of view.

In Isabel’s words, “it’s like a cactus that decided to be a tree.”
